SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School

Location: Garston, Liverpool (L19)
Start Date: September 2026
Pay: £14.25 – £15.50 per hour (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-Time, Temporary (with potential to extend)

The Role

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a primary school to recruit an SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs, including those who may display challenging behaviour.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN
  • Use behaviour management strategies to support emotional regulation
  • Support the class teacher in delivering differentiated learning
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Track and feedback on pupil progress and wellbeing
  • Contribute to a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a resilient, confident, and caring individual who:

  • Has experience supporting SEN within a primary school setting (essential)
  • Has experience working with pupils who display challenging behaviour (highly desirable)
  • Demonstrates effective behaviour management skills
  • Is patient, flexible, and proactive in their approach
  • Builds strong, professional relationships with both pupils and staff
  • Is passionate about supporting children with additional needs
