Unqualified Postgraduate Teaching Assistant
Locations: Bristol, Bath, and Gloucestershire
Full-time work available
Start date: September 2025
Key Stages: 1 – 4
Daily rate: £89 – £100

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting the next group of passionate teaching assistants to support and nurture students with special educational needs (SEN). These needs may include mental health diagnoses, physical disabilities, communication difficulties, and behavioural issues. Due to the nature of the role, we are looking for individuals who are resilient, empathetic, and understanding — these qualities are non-negotiable.

You will be supporting students aged between 5 and 16, playing a pivotal role in their educational success.


Position Details

  • Start date: September 2025

  • Monday to Friday, term time only

  • Hours: 8:30 am – 3:30 pm (may vary depending on the school)

  • Work available throughout Bristol, Bath, and Gloucestershire

  • Opportunity to transition to a permanent contract with the school, for the right candidate


The Role

  • Support students with SEN, either in small groups or on a one-to-one basis

  • Work closely with other teaching assistants and classroom teachers to support student learning and development

  • Assist with delivering lesson content and activities, providing help where possible

  • Build trusting relationships with students, making them feel safe and supported in the environment you help create

  • Support the implementation of EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans)


The Ideal Candidate

  • Someone who is passionate about education and making a difference in children’s lives

  • Looking to begin a career in education or build on previous experience

  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills

  • Experience with SEN or challenging behaviour is desirable, whether professional or personal, but not essential — determination and drive are key

  • Previous experience in education, care, or sports coaching is beneficial, though not required

  • Able to adapt your approach to suit individual student needs
