Have you just graduated and are looking for your next role? Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting it’s next groups of teaching assistants for the 2025/2026 school year, we are looking for enthusiastic individuals who will support and burture a class of students who have special educational needs (SEN) where students can suffer with emotional and behavioural difficulties, mental health conditions and specific medical needs. Understanding and an empathetic personality is essential for this role. You will support students aged anywhere between 5 and 16, and play a critical part in their academic careers.

Position details

  • September 2025 start
  • Bristol, Bath and Gloucestershire work available
  • 8:30am – 3:30pm (may vary depending on the school)
  • Monday – Friday, term time only
  • Opportunity to transition to a permanent contract with the school, for the right candidates

What you’ll do

  • Support students with SEN needs, either in small groups or on a one-to-one basis
  • Work closely with other teaching assistants to support the learning of a small classrooms of students.
  • Build relationships with the students, allowing them to be themselves in your presence.
  • Build trusting relationships with the students, ensuring they feel safe and comfortable with you in the classroom
  • Assist with the learning and development of your classroom students, by supporting with work contents when and where possible

The ideal candidate

  • Someone with a genuine passion for education and teaching, looking to start a career in the rewarding sector
  • Strong behavioural management skills and high communication skills
  • Experience isn’t essential, as long as you have the drive and determination to make this path successful for you, we’d love to hear from you
  • Experience with SEN or challenging either personally or professionally, is desirable but not necessarily
