A lovely SEN school in the Bournemouth area are seeking a hardworking and positive Teaching Assistant to join their team.

You will work 1:1 with individual pupils with SEN inside and outside the classroom, being an aid in their learning and managing their behaviour. You will monitor the pupils’ progress and report it to their class teacher, providing feedback and discussing solutions to help them succeed and excel. As some pupils will have come from difficult backgrounds, it is essential you are patient and empathetic.

What we look for in Teaching Assistants:

  • Previous experience working with children, young people or vulnerable adults
  • Ideally experience with Special Needs (SEN) such as Autism (ASC), Learning Difficulties or Mental Health Difficulties. 
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills
  • If you have a background in youth work, sports coaching or a creative industry such as drama or art you are encouraged to apply

Your main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Plan and support a child with complex learning difficulties and help them reach their potential in a professional and caring manner
  • Be reliable and punctual when working individually in the community or when part of a team and supporting colleagues to do their jobs
  • Actively plan and join in play and youth activities including swimming, ball games, messy play and music
  • Be prepared to communicate differently with a wide range of people
  • Keep records and write reports when required
  • Ensure the highest level of safety and safeguarding at all times

The Role:

  • Applicants will be working in a classroom supporting assistants and fellow support workers on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis with pupils or in small class settings.
  • The role will operate between 8:30 - 15:30, Monday - Friday.
  • Full time is preferred but part time applicants may still apply.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
