Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a Special Educational Needs teacher for a school that is based in Dewsbury, Wakefield. The school carers to 170 pupils, aged between 5-19 years old with the Secondary School supporting around 130 students.

Located across two sites, we deploy of a wide range of teaching strategies to engage and develop the progress of learners, who present with a range of learning difficulties and styles.

As a qualified Teacher, you will provide teaching support across a range of subjects to smaller class sizes. You may be a KS2/Primary teacher looking to specialise in an SEN setting, this role is perfect for you. Our ideal candidate will be additionally be enthusiastic, committed and flexible and have a love of teaching students with special educational needs, including learning outside of the classroom and teaching life skills.

As a SEN Teacher, this role is offered on a full time, long term and term time only basis with the opportunity to go onto a permanent contract with the school depending on your success in the position.

Following a thorough induction and training programme, your duties would include:

  • Plan, deliver and teach individual students or small groups across a range of curriculum subjects
  • Devise, implement and review individual education and behaviour plans alongside other staff, communicating regularly with parents, carers, teaching and clinical staff to ensure consistency
  • Positively contribute to the overall programme of learning for each student to ensure their progression
  • Organise your classroom, resources and displays to provide a stimulating learning environment for students
  • Safeguard all students and ensure their safety and well being at all times

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
