SEN Teacher

A special school in Bradford are looking to appoint a full time teacher. This role is anticipated to commence in September 2020 – providing current restrictions have been lifted by this point.  

Located on the outskirts of the city centre, the school was recently graded as ‘Good’ in a recent Ofsted inspection (Jan 2020) and currently offers learning opportunities for pupils aged 3-19 with a range of complex learning difficulties. 85% of pupils have diagnosed Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and/or Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), so it is vital that you have an understanding of supporting pupils who because of their communication difficulties become anxious and struggle to engage. You will be calm and resilient and may also possess a valid Team Teach certificate or equivalent training.

You will be familiar with some of the teaching approaches used in school such as the TEACCH principles, but others may be new to you and include: Sensory Integration, Intensive Interaction, Write Dance and Positive Play. The school have their own dedicated Speech and language therapist and new contract with an exceptional Occupational therapy team, supporting pupils’ holistic development.
