SEN Support and teaching assistants required for a recently opened special school in Twickenham to start in September 2020!

We are looking to appoint full-time SEN support and teaching for a new primary class in a special needs school in Twickenham, Richmond. The school recently opened in 2019 and are now opening a primary department as of September 2020. They are looking for full-time primary school and autism experienced support and teaching assistants who are confident in their skills.

The school specialises in support and learning for children diagnosed with autism, social needs and speech and language difficulties. Roles available will be in a Year 5 and Year 6 class with pupils being supported 1:1 and in small groups. Some pupils in class may be non-verbal, have limited speech and be learning below national level (P scales).

You will be reporting to the class teacher and Special Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO). You will be expected to support in class, during pupil breaks, liaise with parents, observe and record pupil progress. 

The ideal SEN support and teaching assistant will be:

  • Experienced working in primary schools or with primary aged children
  • Experienced supporting children with autism and/or speech and language difficulties
  • Able to work full-time in Twickenham, Richmond
  • Confident supporting with academic learning and development though therapies (speech and occupational therapy)
  • Experienced using sensory/visual resources such as PECS, TEACCH, Makaton is highly beneficial
  • Experienced with personal care (toileting training/support) is highly beneficial

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
