Maths Teacher (QTS Essential) – Specialist Secondary Provision (ASC)

Location: Rural village near Andover, Hampshire
Salary: £36,000 – £42,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full Time – 40 hours per week

Maths Teacher – Specialist Secondary Education Setting

We are seeking to appoint a qualified and committed Maths Teacher (QTS essential) to join a specialist secondary education setting supporting young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).

This position offers an opportunity to apply your subject expertise within a highly supportive environment where smaller class sizes, enhanced staffing ratios, and a personalised approach to learning enable meaningful educational outcomes. The role is ideally suited to teachers who value relationship-based practice and wish to make a sustained impact on students’ academic achievement and personal development.

The Role

As Maths Teacher, you will deliver high-quality teaching to secondary-aged students, including preparation for and delivery of GCSE Mathematics. You will create engaging, accessible, and differentiated lessons that support students to develop confidence, independence, and achieve their individual learning goals.

Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, you will have the flexibility and support to adapt teaching strategies to meet a range of learning profiles and ensure each student experiences success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and appropriately differentiated Mathematics lessons to students up to GCSE level

  • Adapt teaching methods to accommodate individual learning, communication, and sensory needs

  • Monitor student progress and implement strategies to maximise attainment and personal development

  • Establish positive and consistent relationships with students, families, and colleagues

  • Promote confidence, resilience, independence, and emotional wellbeing

  • Contribute positively to a nurturing, inclusive, and aspirational school culture

Person Specification

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – applications without QTS cannot be considered

  • Experience teaching Mathematics at secondary level

  • Confidence and competence delivering GCSE Mathematics

  • Strong classroom practice and effective behaviour management skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • A patient, flexible, and student-centred approach to teaching

  • Due to the rural location, access to independent transport is required

Desirable

  • Experience working within specialist education, SEND, or ASC settings

  • Knowledge of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and differentiated teaching approaches

  • Experience supporting students with social communication differences
