Job description

SEN Intervention Support Staff

Teaching Personnel are currently seeking SEN Intervention staff to work in schools around the East Manchester areas. With the return to school after COVID-19 proving difficult in terms of isolations and closing bubbles, schools are looking to recruit Intervention Support Staff to help pupils with the transition back into the classroom and to look at attaining pupil progress for this academic year.

We are working with SEN Specialist Schools that require additional support for pupils with Autism and SEMH needs (Social, Emotional & Mental Health).

The children within these schools are on EHCPs and require a positive role model to engage and develop positive relationships with on a 1:1 or sometimes small group basis. The focus is to provide a nurture based approach to support the young people and aim to provide them with the vital skills to transition into education.

All applicants will be subject to background checks and will need a current Enhanced DBS Certificate (Registered onto the Update Service). We can help and support your application should this be required.

The working hours of this role are typically Monday-Friday 8:30am-3:30pm, these may vary depending on the needs of the school/pupil and if you are offered additional duties and responsibilities outside of these hours.

Schools will be requiring on and off support throughout this academic year due to COVID-19 difficulties and student intake and staffing needs, so there is always opportunities for contract extension and permanent roles for staff who excel in the role and are a great asset to the school.

The Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate will have an outgoing and resilient personality, with the ability to work on their own initiative in the classroom. You will ideally have experience of working on a 1:1 basis with a variety of ability levels and SEN, which could vary from P-Levels to Functional Skills or GCSE. Some experience of managing challenging behaviour may be required for some schools.
