SEN support role in Sheffield

We are currently working with a SEN school in Sheffield who require 2 x full time enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistants who would enjoy working in a happy and supportive school. The successful candidates will complete a strong team and contribute to the schools success.

The governors are looking for enthusiastic and committed people who are able to relate well to young people with a range of complex needs including severe learning difficulties, autistic spectrum disorder, physical disabilities and communication difficulties. You will need to work collaboratively within a staff team and with visiting therapists. The successful applicant will provide high quality support for the learning, personal care, communication and physical needs of students, working across a range of ages and abilities. You should have experience of managing students with challenging behaviour, be Team Teach trained and have a willingness to develop this further. Teaching assistants also contribute towards students’ formal and informal assessment and help build effective relationships between home and school.

All Teaching Assistants are required to be proficient in safe moving and handling techniques and Team Teach however full training will be provided as necessary. Knowledge of Makaton, basic ICT skills and experience of working with students with disabilities, learning difficulties, and communication difficulties would be an advantage but professionals with a positive attitude who are committed to their own professional development will also be considered.
