Childrens Residential Support Worker
Job description
Support Worker – Make a Difference Beyond the Classroom
Teaching Personnel is looking for a caring, energetic and reliable Support Worker to join a specialist residential setting supporting children and young people with autism and associated needs.
This is a role for someone who genuinely enjoys helping young people grow in confidence, develop greater independence and get more out of everyday life. No two shifts will look exactly the same. One day you could be supporting with mealtimes and cooking skills, the next getting involved in recreational activities or helping create a positive evening for the young people you support.
What will you be doing?
You’ll be part of a supportive care team, helping to:
- Create a safe, caring and consistent environment
- Support young people before and after the school day
- Encourage independence, including cooking and everyday life skills
- Get involved with evening and weekend activities
- Support social and emotional development
- Contribute to care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support
- Build positive relationships with young people, families, carers and other professionals
Who are we looking for?
Experience supporting vulnerable children or young people is essential. You’ll also need to be flexible, positive, creative and, above all, a strong communicator who can approach young people with empathy and patience. An NVQ Level 3 is desirable rather than listed as essential.
This isn’t a role where you simply turn up and get through a shift. It’s about becoming someone young people can rely on.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
