SEN-Teaching Assistant- Oldham- Team-Teach

  • - Are you an experienced teaching assistant looking for an opportunity to work with pupils with SEND?
  • - Do you want access to specialist training such as: Team-Teach?
  • - Do you have an in-depth understanding of how to support and encourage the optimal development of pupils with SEND?

An outstanding Multi Academy trust are looking to appoint a teaching assistant to start from September 2017. Initially, the position will be temporary for the first term September- December; however this could result in a permanent position for the right candidate. The trust runs across 4 sites based in Oldham. Sites cater for individuals between 4 - 19 with a Statement of SEN or an EHCP, on the autistic spectrum and/or have significant communication and interaction difficulties and social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).

This role will involve working in co-operation with the classroom teacher to plan and implement targeted interventions to support and encourage the development of pupils with SEND. Due to the specific needs of the pupils we would be interested in applicants who have a considerable amount of experience supporting children or young people with SEN needs, within the primary or secondary sector. We would also welcome applications from less experienced individuals who can demonstrate a genuine interest in supporting pupils with SENd needs. Ideally the teaching assistant will have experience working within a special needs setting, however this is not essential as long as the teaching assistant has an in-depth understanding of how to cater for pupils with SEND.

The successful candidate will:

• Be an experienced teaching assistant who is committed to supporting and encouraging the development of pupils with SEND needs

• Be committed to ensuring that all pupils with SEND can achieve their optimal potential

• Be able to demonstrate a commitment to catering for the needs of pupils with SEND

• Be able to foster positive working relationships with other staff, pupils, parents and the wider community

• Ideally Team-Teach trained
