Teaching Personnel is currently seeking a dedicated Additional Needs Support Assistant to join a specialist secondary provision in the Salford area. This welcoming and supportive school caters for students aged 11-19 with a range of complex learning and physical needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD), Physical Disabilities, and associated communication difficulties.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced support staff, teaching assistants, care workers, youth workers, healthcare professionals, or individuals with a genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.

The Role

As an Additional Needs Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to provide personalised support that enables students to access education, develop life skills, and achieve their individual goals.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Assisting with personalised learning activities tailored to individual needs.
  • Encouraging communication, social interaction, and independence.
  • Supporting students with sensory regulation and emotional wellbeing.
  • Assisting with mobility and personal care where required.
  • Working alongside teaching staff and external specialists to implement individual support plans.
  • Creating a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Promoting student confidence, engagement, and achievement throughout the school day.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Have experience supporting children or young people with SEN, additional needs, or disabilities.
  • Demonstrate patience, empathy, and resilience.
  • Are confident building positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Can remain calm and adaptable in challenging situations.
  • Have experience in education, care, healthcare, youth work, or support work (desirable but not essential).
  • Are committed to helping every young person reach their full potential.
