SEN Teaching Assistant

Manchester & Greater Manchester

Full-Time Opportunities | Immediate & Ongoing Starts Available | Pay: Competitive Weekly Pay | Through Teaching Personnel

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to support a range of specialist SEN schools across Manchester and Greater Manchester. These schools support pupils with a variety of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language Difficulties, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), sensory impairments, and complex behavioural needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small group settings
  • Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning activities
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, encouraging confidence and independence
  • Support children with communication, emotional regulation, and social development
  • Implement behaviour support strategies where required
  • Assist with personal care needs where applicable
  • Promote inclusion and encourage participation in classroom activities
  • Help create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children, young people, or vulnerable adults
  • A genuine passion for SEN and inclusive education
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Relevant experience working with SEN, SEMH, behavioural, or additional needs is desirable

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
