SEN Learning & Inclusion Mentor

Secondary SEN School | Manchester Area | Immediate Start | Teaching Personnel

Are you passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and helping them reach their full potential? Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated SEN Learning & Inclusion Mentor to join a thriving Secondary SEN school in the Manchester area on a full-time basis.

This rewarding role involves supporting students aged 11-19 with a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and associated behavioural challenges. The Role

As a SEN Learning & Inclusion Mentor, you will play a vital role in helping students engage positively with education, develop confidence, and achieve meaningful progress within a supportive specialist school environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with a variety of SEN needs.
  • Support pupils both inside and outside the classroom to encourage engagement and participation.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students who may face barriers to learning.
  • Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning activities and interventions.
  • Implement individual support strategies and behaviour plans.
  • Encourage the development of social skills, emotional regulation, and independence.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Promote a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support students during break times, educational visits, and enrichment activities when required.

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH, or additional learning needs is desirable.
  • Backgrounds in education, care, youth work, coaching, mental health support, residential care, or support work are highly welcomed.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Resilient, patient, adaptable, and compassionate approach.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
  • Commitment to supporting students with complex needs and promoting positive outcomes.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one through Teaching Personnel.
  • Right to work in the UK.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
