SEMH Teaching Assistant

A school in Preston have x2 Teaching Assistant vacancies to support the needs of their pupils with SEMH, aged 11-16.

The TA's will mainly be needed for in-class support and will ideally need to have experience of working in small classes to scaffold learning. You must have the ability to follow staff direction and cues on how to behaviour manage pupils.

On some occasions you may be required to work on a 1:1 basis with pupils, on either their learning from class or on strategies to regain focus or manage anger issues.

You may be required to support in practical subjects such as Food Tech, PE or outdoor education so would need to be physically active. 

You must be passionate about working in an SEMH setting and be confident in managing challenging behaviour. You must also be confident / skilled in supporting pupils with anxiety or those who have Austism. You will need to show initiative, follow directions well and know that, from the minute the pupils enter the building to the time they leave you are going to be 'on the go,' therefore you must be physically and mentally robust.

You must be confident in managing challenging behaviour.

The hours are 8:35am - 3:15pm (with a 20minute lunch break) and a 2:30pm finish on Fridays.

The rate of pay will be GBP10 per hour.

The roles are full-time with the opportunity of becoming a permanent position!

The roles are to start on Tuesday 8th December or possibly in January.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
