Are you passionate about supporting children facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges? Do you thrive in environments where patience, empathy, and consistency make a real difference?
A mainstream primary school in Morcambe is seeking a committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. The school provides a safe and structured setting for pupils aged 4–11 who require extra support with emotional regulation, behaviour, and mental well-being. You will collaborate with teachers and support staff to deliver personalised interventions, both one-to-one and in small groups. These activities may include emotional literacy sessions, sensory regulation, and creative tasks designed to foster social skills and self-esteem. Additionally, you will help maintain a calm and consistent environment during lessons, breaks, and transitions.
What we’re looking for:
- A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant experience
- Prior experience working with children with SEMH needs (in any setting)
- A calm, nurturing, and resilient approach
- Excellent communication and de-escalation skills
- A thorough understanding of behaviour support strategies and trauma-informed practise
This role is ideal for experienced teaching assistants or psychology graduates looking to make a meaningful impact in a professional setting.
