SEMH Teacher
Job description
We are looking for passionate Teachers to join a Specialist Secondary provision in North Manchester to help shape brighter futures for young people, aged 11 to 18 who can’t attend mainstream education due to Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. These pupils often have a history of disrupted education and may face challenges such as depression, anxiety and behavioural difficulties, often stemming from complex backgrounds and trauma experiences.
The role:
The successful candidate will deliver a broad, adapted curriculum across Key Stage 3 and 4, personalised to meet individual learning needs for each pupil.
- Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons to pupils with SEMH and additional SEN
- Supporting pupils’ academic, social and emotional development
- Managing and responding calmly and consistently to challenging behaviour using trauma-informed and restorative approaches
- Building trusting relationships that promote confidence, self-regulation and readiness to learn
- Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists and senior leaders to implement individual education and behaviour plans
- Monitoring progress and contributing to reviews, assessments and multi-disciplinary meetings
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience in teaching young people with SEMH needs and adapting learning materials for each child
- Strong understanding of GCSE curriculum and confidently teach cross multiple subjects
- Have knowledge and experience working with challenging behaviours
- Knowledge of SEMH strategies, interventions and suitable practises
- Ability to work with and lead a team of teaching assistants

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
