Job description

Job Title: SEMH Teacher – KS4 (with Cross-Phase Support)
Location: Chorley
Contract: Full-Time | 12-Week Temp to Perm
Start Date: September 2025
Pay: M1-M6 (dependent on experience and qualifications)

 

Are you an experienced teacher with a passion for supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you thrive in a nurturing, small-school setting where every day brings new challenges and rewards?

We are working in partnership with a specialist SEMH school in Chorley that caters for both primary and secondary pupils with complex needs. The school is seeking a committed and adaptable KS4 Teacher to join their team from September 2025. This is a full-time role on a 12-week temporary to permanent contract.

 

The Role:

  • Lead the KS4 class, delivering a flexible and engaging curriculum tailored to individual needs

  • Support across year groups when required, collaborating closely with primary and secondary colleagues

  • Promote emotional regulation, resilience and positive behaviour through consistent, therapeutic approaches

  • Track progress and contribute to EHCP reviews and wider pastoral support planning

 

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher (QTS/QTLS) with experience in SEMH, alternative provision or PRU settings

  • Confident teaching across a range of subjects, including core curriculum and vocational elements

  • Skilled in managing challenging behaviour using de-escalation and trauma-informed strategies

  • Resilient, compassionate and team-oriented

  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, differentiation, and inclusive education

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
