SEMH TA

A school in Burnley are seeking a Support Assistant to offer support to students with SEN, particularly SEMH and associated behavioural difficulties.

The school provides specialist education for pupils aged 11 – 16 years old and has a good reputation for providing high-quality, personalised education for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties. The school’s success is based on an approach which combines high expectations with sensitivity to the needs of individual students.

Typically students have either been placed in the care of the school or are day placement students. Some will have a Statement of Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and may be diagnosed with or present with any of the following:

• Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties 

• Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) 

• Challenging behaviour 

• Likely history of placement or family breakdown 

• Attachment disorder

To be considered for this role you must have experience supporting children with SEN, particularly SEMH and associated behavioural difficulties. You must have a strong and resilient nature and be experienced in managing challenging behaviour effectively.

Working hours will likely be 8:30am – 3:30pm on a full-time basis.
