Teaching Personnel are currently working with a specialist SEMH provision who are currently seeking Learning Support Assistants to start as soon as possible. The school caters to individuals at the secondary level who have complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH) which may includes:

  • Autism
  • Mild to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD)
  • Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)

This role will require successful candidates to interact with pupils on a 1:1 and/or group basis, aiding with their personal and educational development. Working in this environment will be rewarding, yet challenging as you will be required to assist pupils at key stages 3 & 4 with emotional and educational support.

You will be joining a positive and supportive school environment, where Teachers and Teaching Assistants alike working to help pupils reach their potential to lead a fulfilling and purposeful life, through the provision of personalised, high-quality education with flexible learning pathways.

The candidate we are looking for will either have experience or feel confident in at least 2 of the following bullet points:

  • A robust knowledge of the complex drivers behind behaviour and proactively keeps skills up to date, be self-critical and receptive to feedback. (Psychology/Criminology)
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to develop positive professional relationships and be an effective communicator to work with both internal and external parties in the best interest of the students.
  • Ability to lead impact on pupil progress, plan, assess and maintain an overview of individual education plans, teaching and learning.
  • Experience in challenging behaviour within family.
