Learning Support Assistant - (SEN School)
Location: Eastleigh
Pay Rate: £13.75 per hour
Contract: Term Time Only

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children with complex needs? Teaching Personnel is looking for a caring and committed Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Southampton. In this role, you’ll support pupils with a variety of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), physical disabilities, and medical conditions.

This term-time position is perfect for those wanting to contribute meaningfully within an educational setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and small group support to pupils in the classroom

  • Support communication strategies, including PECS and Makaton, as well as sensory approaches

  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support teams to deliver individual education plans (IEPs)

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment promoting emotional and academic growth

  • Help deliver tailored learning activities and therapeutic interventions

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs is highly desirable

  • Confidence or willingness to be trained in personal care and physical support

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive attitude in supporting complex needs

  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
