SEN Teaching Assistant – Complex Needs Secondary School (Salford)

Full Time | Long-Term | After the February Half term start

Teaching Personnel are looking for a compassionate, resilient, and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to support students in a complex needs secondary SEN school in the Salford area. This school supports young people with a wide range of additional needs, including Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, Autism Spectrum condition, Speech, Language and communication delays, Sensory processing challenges and Physical disabilities and medical needs.

⭐ Key Responsibilities

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small‑group interventions tailored to individual learning needs
  • Support pupils with communication, sensory regulation, and social interaction
  • Assist students with personal care, feeding, and mobility where required
  • Use visual aids, sensory tools, and specialist communication methods (such as PECS or Makaton)
  • Help students engage with personalised curriculum pathways
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and SEN specialists to deliver consistent support
  • Contribute to creating a safe, structured, and nurturing environment
  • Promote independence, emotional wellbeing, and positive behaviour

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience supporting pupils with complex needs, SEN, or disabilities
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Confidence with behaviour support and sensory‑based strategies
  • Willingness to assist with personal care and medical routines
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
  • Full‑time availability, Monday–Friday

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
