Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with complex needs? Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Full-Time SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 11–19 within a specialist provision for students with severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), autism spectrum conditions, sensory impairments, mobility needs, medical needs, and complex communication challenges.

This setting provides high-quality, personalised education for young people who require consistent, specialist support to access learning, communication, and daily routines. You will be joining an experienced, nurturing team committed to helping every student achieve their fullest potential.


Your Role Will Include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small-group support to students with a range of complex needs.
  • Assisting with personal care, mobility, and daily life skills where required.
  • Implementing individual learning plans (ILPs) and adapting activities to meet each pupil’s developmental stage.
  • Supporting pupils with communication aids, sensory equipment, and therapeutic tools.
  • Helping to manage behaviour using positive, regulated, and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Collaborating closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to create a safe, engaging learning environment.
  • Supporting with routine tasks including feeding, physical prompts, transitions, and supervision during unstructured times.

Requirements:

  • Full-time availability is essential.
  • Previous experience working with SEN (SLD, PMLD, ASD) highly desirable, but not essential.
  • A calm, compassionate, patient, and resilient approach to supporting young people with complex needs.
  • Willingness to assist with personal care and physical support tasks.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to follow safeguarding, behaviour, and support plans consistently.
  • A DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one through Teaching Personnel.
