Job description

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with complex Special Educational Needs (SEN)? We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming SEN primary school in Salford. This role involves supporting pupils with a range of needs, including autism, severe learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and medical conditions. This is the ideal role for someone who has a genuine passion for supporting young people and having a positive impact on their lives.  

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide tailored classroom support to pupils with complex SEN needs, ensuring they can access learning in a safe and inclusive environment. 
  • Assist with personal care, including:  
    • Toileting and changing 
    • Feeding and hydration support 
    • Mobility assistance for pupils with physical disabilities 
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO. 
  • Foster positive relationships with pupils, promoting independence and confidence. 
  • Support pupils during transitions, playtimes, and off-site activities. 
  • Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and care routines. 
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure holistic support. 

 

Requirements 

  • Previous experience working with children with complex SEN needs (e.g., autism, physical disabilities, medical needs). 
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one). 
  • Ability to provide personal care with dignity and respect. 
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, resilient, patient, and caring approach. 
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
