SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary SEN School (Manchester City Area)

Start Date: ASAP | Full-Time & Day-to-Day Roles Available

Are you passionate about supporting children with complex needs such as Autism (ASC), ADHD, communication difficulties, sensory processing needs, and profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD)? Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join a warm and specialist primary SEN school in the Manchester City area.


About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with a wide range of needs. Every day will be different, and you’ll be part of a team committed to helping children thrive both academically and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils with complex learning needs on a 1:1 or small-group basis
  • Assisting with communication, sensory and behavioural support strategies
  • Providing personal care when required (e.g., toileting, feeding, dressing)
  • Helping deliver tailored learning activities under the guidance of the class teacher
  • Creating a positive, engaging and supportive classroom environment
  • Using initiative to support pupils during challenging moments
  • Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children

We want someone who is proactive, engaging, and genuinely passionate about making a difference.

Essential Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN, either in schools, care or similar settings
  • A positive, resilient and enthusiastic approach to working with children
  • Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
  • Reliability and commitment—especially with an ASAP start
