Develop Classroom Confidence: Secondary Cover Supervisor – Tameside

Location: Tameside
Contract Type: Full-time, term-time only
Start Date: September 2025
Pay: £90–£110 per day (dependent on experience and responsibilities)

A well-regarded secondary school in the heart of Tameside is seeking to appoint a full-time Cover Supervisor to support teaching and learning across all year groups (Years 7–11). This is a key position, providing classroom supervision during staff absence and ensuring students remain on task and engaged with pre-prepared materials.

The successful candidate will:

  • Supervise lessons in the absence of the regular teacher, delivering set work across a range of subjects.

  • Maintain a calm and orderly classroom environment, promoting positive behaviour and ensuring school policies are followed.

  • Respond to student questions and offer support to clarify tasks where appropriate (subject-specific knowledge is not required).

  • Provide feedback to teaching staff on student engagement and behaviour.

  • Assist in other areas of the school day such as registration and break-time supervision when required.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience working with young people (education, youth work, coaching, or tutoring roles are highly relevant).

  • Can demonstrate strong behaviour management and interpersonal skills.

  • Is confident in managing a classroom and working independently.

  • Is adaptable, reliable, and professional in approach.

This role is ideal for graduates considering teacher training, former teachers, or individuals with experience in a school setting looking for a structured, long-term position.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
