Cover Supervisor – Secondary School

Location: Tameside
Salary: £89 - £105 per day
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-time or part-time (minimum 3 days preferred)

A well-regarded secondary school in Tameside is looking to appoint a confident and proactive Cover Supervisor to supervise lessons in the absence of teaching staff. This role offers valuable classroom experience in a supportive and inclusive setting and is ideal for graduates or aspiring teachers seeking paid school-based work before training.

Duties Will Include:

  • Delivering lessons across a range of subjects using materials provided by the class teacher

  • Maintaining a positive and focused classroom atmosphere, managing low-level disruption where necessary

  • Taking attendance and feeding back on pupil participation and behaviour

  • Offering ad-hoc classroom support between cover lessons, including break/lunch supervision or assisting staff

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Confident, calm, and enthusiastic with strong presence in front of a class

  • Ideally holds a degree or experience working with young people in schools or youth settings

  • Able to build rapport quickly with students across KS3 and KS4

  • Flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to work across departments as needed

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
