Job description

Do you have experience working with children/young people? Are you passionate about teaching Science to children/young people?

At TP Tutors we currently have a very exciting opportunity to help young people achieve their academic goals in Science across Sunderland. This role requires someone who can create exciting sessions that engage children in order to maximise children’s potential in all aspects of science.

We are looking for a supportive and passionate individual who will work in a 1-1 basis or small groups providing them with high-quality science tuition. This role may involve working with children outside of a mainstream setting.

This role involves:

  • Planning, creating and delivering engaging sessions for children who are currently not working at expected levels.
  • Tracking pupils progress, providing feedback that will enhance children’s learning and planning their next steps.
  • Implementing behaviour strategies to ensure children are focused and engaged within sessions.
  • Being aware of children’s needs and interests, then using this to create a child-centred approach to learning.

Tutor Requirements:

  • A strong subject knowledge of the Science Curriculum.
  • Professional Teaching Qualification are preferred (Qualified Teaching Status, QTS)
  • An Enhanced Child Workforce only DBS on the update service, or willingness to purchase one via TP Tutors (support for obtaining one can be provided)
  • Professional references from your two most recent employers, totalling 24 months from a 10-year career history.
  • Experience of working with children/young people with SEND, SEMH and other additional needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
