Job description

An ambitious and well-regarded secondary school in Salisbury is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Teacher to join their thriving department from September. This is a full-time role teaching Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 Science, with opportunities to specialise in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics, depending on the successful candidate’s strengths.

The school has a strong academic record in the sciences and is proud of its modern labs, experienced team, and focus on student engagement through practical, hands-on learning. This is an excellent opportunity for either an experienced teacher or a motivated Early Career Teacher looking to develop within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and well-structured Science lessons across KS3 and KS4

  • Plan and implement schemes of work in line with the national curriculum and departmental goals

  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, providing intervention where necessary

  • Encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving through practical experiments and discussions

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to share resources and best practice

  • Contribute to extra-curricular opportunities such as science clubs or STEM enrichment days

Candidate Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • A degree in a Science subject (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field)

  • Experience teaching Science at KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable but not essential)

  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate young people

  • Passion for science education and a commitment to fostering curiosity and critical thinking
