Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a Science Intervention Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted Good secondary school in Stockport. This full-time position offers stability from after Easter until the end of the academic year, with the potential for a permanent contract based on exceptional performance.

Role Overview:

In this role, you will provide crucial support to students requiring extra assistance in understanding scientific concepts and conducting experiments. You will work closely with teachers to prepare teaching materials, facilitate practical activities, and ensure safety protocols are followed during laboratory experiments and demonstrations. Additionally, you will collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to develop and implement effective intervention strategies for students with diverse learning needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

Individualised Support: Provide targeted support to students, offering one-on-one assistance and small group sessions to help them understand scientific concepts, conduct experiments, and complete assignments.

Curriculum Support: Assist teachers in delivering engaging science lessons across various disciplines, including biology, chemistry, and physics, while also preparing teaching materials and facilitating practical activities to enhance students’ understanding of scientific principles.

Laboratory Assistance: Support teachers in setting up and managing laboratory experiments and demonstrations, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and assisting students in conducting experiments and recording observations.

Differentiated Instruction: Implement differentiated instruction strategies to cater to the diverse learning needs and abilities of students, ensuring they receive appropriate challenges and support in their scientific learning.

Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Collect and analyse student progress data, provide feedback to teachers to inform teaching and learning strategies, and collaborate on the development of individualised support plans.

Behaviour Management: Implement positive behaviour management strategies to maintain a safe and productive learning environment in the science classroom, encouraging curiosity, collaboration, and respect among students.

Requirements:

Applicants should have a strong passion for science and a genuine desire to support students in their scientific exploration and learning. Essential qualities include excellent communication and interpersonal skills, patience, empathy, resilience, and the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations. Prior experience working in an educational setting is desirable but not mandatory.

Salary and Benefits:

Compensation for this position ranges from £1540 to £1900 per month, depending on experience and qualifications. Other benefits include opportunities for professional development and career advancement, a supportive leadership team, and a collaborative work environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
