Residential Support Worker - Autism

We are looking to recruit part- and full-time Residential Support Workers for a Cambian Group High School in North Yorkshire. Someone who is motivated by helping others, patient and resilient would be perfect for this role.

This is an exciting opportunity that allows for flexibility, including work at weekends and evenings if preferred. It is a permanent role that could go temporary, upon review. Full MAPA training and other CPD will be made available to the successful candidate on site.

The School is a 38 and 52 week mixed-gender residential and day school for students aged 8-19 with Autism and other related conditions. It provides primary, secondary, and post-16 provisions across a range of subjects and vocational areas. Access to the local community integration with employers and community groups is positively promoted. Extensive use is made of local recreational facilities to facilitate engagement in leisure activities.

You will work with an excellent team to support students 1 - 1 and in small groups. All learners are verbal and will not require personal care. Knowledge and use of Makaton and PECS is encouraged. 

Essential criteria:

  • You must have some experience within an Educational setting or with Special Educational Needs.
  • You must have a child workforce only DBS on the update service.

Desirable criteria:

  • Experience of a residential care unit supporting students with special needs and disabilities,
  • Experience of using Makaton, PECs and other visual cues, highly preferred.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
