Residential Student Care

Our Client, a well-known Children’s Residential Care Provider is looking for a Children’s/Young people support worker in Mid Cornwall to cover shifts

• Promote the development of young people

• Protect young people from threats to their health, welfare, and normal development, both from inside and outside the home. Understand and implement all safeguarding related policies.

• Ensure that key stages in the stay of young people such as admission and discharge are properly managed and reflect decisions recorded in care plans

• Ensure that young people facing particular crises and stresses are offered appropriate additional support

• Ensure that young people are responsible for their own lives, involving them in planning their lives, supporting them, and helping them towards taking greater control and responsibility

• As a support worker, participate in the development, implementation, and monitoring of individual support plans and engaging young people in learning.

• Contribute to and complete risk assessment regarding clients when necessary.

• Ensure that assessments, personal plans, and related documents are robust, effective and regularly reviewed and that personal plans are understood and followed in respect of each individual

• Report and record (as required) any accident or incident which may occur, no matter how minor, to the appropriate person

• Comply with Safeguarding Children and Adults procedures at all times and promote an honest and open culture

• Communicate appropriately with young people, taking into account their individual communication needs

• Accurately maintain all records (including personal plans, personal adviser sessions, medication, and financial transaction documentation) as required by the service

• Work within a flexible rota system adapted to meet the needs of the young people

Are You:

• Able to communicate effectively both written and verbally

• Able to remain calm under pressure

• Of a caring nature with intuitive sensitivity to the needs of others

• Self-motivated and enthusiastic

• An active team player but also able to work on own initiative

• Organised and focussed

• Reliable, flexible, and adaptive

• Experienced in working with children/young people within an OFSTED Registered Residential Service

• NVQ Qualified (Minimum Level 2) in a social care related subject

Successful candidates will have a minimum of 1 year paid experience of working in a similar setting and be available for the day, weekend, and night shifts.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
