Experience working on a 1:1 basis supporting children with additional needs

As a large school on the outskirts of Blackburn, said school are in a position to fully fund a full-time support assistant to work alongside an individual child in the EYFS class. According to the Head teacher and SENCO, the arrival of the child has caused a slight disruption in class as the child does have some behavioural difficulties. Additional to this, the child in question is struggling with trust and attachment and so the successful candidate will have to commit for the entirety of the role, expected to be until the end of the academic year. The Head teacher has also suggested that due to the needs of the child, the school would prefer an applicant who has excellent behaviour management and possible additional training such as TEAM TEACH and MAPA. This is not a role for the faint hearted! You must be prepared for the said child being physically and verbally aggressive and use a variety of techniques and strategies to ensure the child is safe and stimulated in the working environment. You will work in partnership with the class teacher to plan and delivery a tailored curriculum and meet learning objectives. The academic ability of the child is not yet confirmed but it is expected to be lower than age related levels. You will work cohesively with the parents and agencies involved and ensure you assess in line with the child’s education plan
This role will start from next week, week beginning the 2nd March. You will be expected to work from 0830-1530 each day, five days a week.
