Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant for one of our client schools in September in the Wythenshawe area. The school has a history of supporting graduates, especially those in Psychology. The role will last for the entire academic year, our client may also make the role permanent, depending on performance. The earning potential for this role is £1500 - £1700 per month, subject to relevant experience.

The school in question is a 11 – 16 mixed secondary school. It’s one of the largest schools in the U.K. with 2000 pupils attending, the school has students with Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs who require regular support. It will be your responsibility to ensure these pupils receive all the aid they need and to help them achieve their academic targets. Our client school takes great pride in its SEN and SEMH departments and has high standards regarding their academic targets.

There are many skills and attributes schools look for in support staff, many are built through experience, here are a few examples you should have going into the role:

Patience is key when working with young people, everyone has different speeds of learning and different ability, a great teacher always gives students a chance to learn at their own pace and offers guidance when necessary.

Motivation is important in multiple aspects, motivating the students is an obvious one but always remaining upbeat yourself is key to keeping pupils engaged!

Composure is vital in a classroom, unfortunately there will be instances where you will have to deal with difficult situations, you must always retain your composure to prevent the situation from escalating.

In its last inspection the school as deemed a good Ofsted school, the report highlights the Teacher’s rich subject knowledge and deep passion for their respective subjects. The school’s leadership was also commented on positively, stating they are quick to resolve any issue that comes up within the school and have worked hard to improve the progress of students with additional needs.

Should you be successful, to be considered you must provide a full DBS check and 2 references from former employers. (Character references are accepted if you have not had 2 employers).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
