Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Role in Levenshulme

Teaching Personnel is seeking a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ secondary school in Levenshulme. This is a full-time position starting immediately and continuing until the end of the academic year, with the potential for a permanent role based on performance.

Role Overview

This position is ideal for a recent psychology graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in an educational setting. It is particularly suited to individuals interested in educational psychology, teaching, mental health support, or special educational needs (SEN). The successful candidate will support students both academically and pastorally, working closely with teachers, the SENCO, and pastoral staff to enhance student learning and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing one-to-one and small group support for students who require additional academic or emotional support.

• Assisting teachers in delivering engaging lessons, ensuring all students can access the curriculum.

• Supporting students with special educational needs (SEN), including autism, ADHD, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) difficulties.

• Helping students develop coping strategies, confidence, and resilience in their learning.

• Implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies under the guidance of the SENCO.

• Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teachers to help tailor lesson plans.

• Encouraging students to engage positively with their education and supporting their emotional well-being.

• Assisting with behaviour management and classroom support, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.

• Supporting students during breaks, lunchtimes, and extracurricular activities, where required.

Candidate Requirements:

• A degree in Psychology or a related field (2:2 or above preferred).

• A strong interest in education, mental health, and student development.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students.

• A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting students with diverse needs.

• The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a school environment.

• Previous experience working with young people (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, classroom support) is desirable but not essential.

Salary & Benefits:

• Weekly pay between £419.25 - £500, depending on experience and responsibilities.
