Are you a psychology graduate looking to take your first steps toward a career in educational psychology? Teaching Personnel invites you to join our SEND team, working with schools outside of mainstream education to support children with additional needs. This is your chance to gain practical experience, develop key skills, and make a lasting impact on students’ lives.
Why Join Teaching Personnel’s SEND Team?
This isn’t just a job; it’s an opportunity to apply your psychology knowledge in real-world settings while building a career path toward educational psychology. You’ll work closely with students in specialised environments, including:
- Special Educational Needs (SEN) Schools: Supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and other SEND requirements in nurturing, tailored learning environments.
- Pupil Referral Units (PRUs): Helping young people who have been excluded from mainstream education, focusing on behavior management and re-engagement.
- Alternative Provisions: Assisting students with a range of complex needs who thrive in smaller, more personalised educational settings.
These unique placements will allow you to gain invaluable insight into how diverse educational approaches can transform the lives of young learners.
About the Role:
- Location: Opportunities in schools across Salford, Bolton, Wigan and Warrington
- Pay: Starting from £84+ per day (PAYE)
- Hours: Full-time (Mon-Fri, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm) or flexible part-time options
- Start Date: Immediate (following registration)
- Contract: Opportunities for long-term roles, supply positions, and temp-to-perm pathways
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Providing Personalised Support: Help students overcome academic, emotional, and behavioral challenges through tailored one-on-one and small group interactions.
- Creating Positive Change: Support students in building confidence, life skills, and independence.
- Collaborating with Professionals: Work alongside experienced teachers, SENCOs, and other specialists to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Hands-On Learning: Experience diverse settings that deepen your understanding of SEND and behavior management strategies.
Why This is a Perfect Fit for Psychology Graduates:
- Pathway to Educational Psychology: Gain the practical, hands-on experience essential for progressing toward a career in educational psychology.
- Dedicated Support: Work with a consultant who understands your career aspirations and helps you succeed.
- Skills Development: Build expertise in behavior analysis, intervention strategies, and communication with children who have complex needs.
- Diverse Experience: Learn in settings beyond mainstream education, preparing you for a wide range of roles in the psychology and education sectors.
Who We’re Looking For:
- Empathetic and Motivated: You have a passion for supporting children with additional needs and a genuine interest in their development.
- Adaptable and Resilient: You’re ready to face new challenges and thrive in dynamic, varied environments.
- Collaborative and Communicative: You excel in teamwork and value professional relationships with educators and support staff.
