SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School

Location: Bolton
Position: Full-Time | Start ASAP

Are you passionate about making a difference in children’s lives? Teaching Personnel is working closely with a welcoming SEN primary school in Bolton, supporting pupils with moderate Special Educational Needs. These needs may include Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), moderate learning difficulties (MLD), speech and language delays, ADHD, and social communication challenges. The school provides a nurturing, structured environment where pupils are supported to build confidence, develop key skills, and thrive both academically and socially.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and other support staff to provide tailored support to pupils. You may work on a 1:1 basis or with small groups, helping children access learning, stay engaged, and achieve their individual targets.


✏️ Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with SEN in classroom activities and learning tasks
  • Deliver targeted interventions to support literacy, numeracy, and social skills
  • Help create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
  • Use effective behaviour management strategies to support focus and participation
  • Encourage communication, independence, and confidence-building
  • Support pupils during transitions and unstructured times

✅ Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN (school-based or transferable experience)
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Ability to adapt and respond to individual learning styles
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant) are desirable but not essential
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
