Psychology Graduate Autism Support Assistant
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Psychology Graduate Autism Learning Support Assistant to join our team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for recent psychology graduates or individuals with relevant experience to gain valuable hands-on experience working with students with autism and other special educational needs. You will work closely with experienced teachers and SEN professionals to provide tailored support and interventions that meet the individual needs of our students.
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) in classroom.
- Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies, under the guidance of teaching staff and SENCO.
- Support students in accessing the curriculum, including adapting learning materials and providing additional explanations or assistance as needed.
- Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging engagement, participation, and independence in learning activities.
- Help students develop essential social skills, communication abilities, and emotional regulation techniques through structured interventions and support.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to monitor student progress, collect data, and contribute to the review and evaluation of support strategies.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working or volunteering with children or young people, particularly those with autism, is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience when working with individuals who may display challenging behaviors or require additional support.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, following instructions and contributing ideas effectively.
- Willingness to undergo relevant safeguarding checks, including an Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
