The Headteacher and SENCO of a reputable Primary School in Penwortham are keen to appoint a Graduate to tutor small groups of 3 pupils in Y2 and Y5. The Headteacher has highlighted these two groups as requiring tailored interventions to close gaps in learning as a result of school closures. As approved providers for the National Tuition Programme, Teaching Personnel are working exclusively alongside this school to recruit for this role.  

The National Tutoring Programme is aimed at helping pupils catch-up on lost learning during the national lockdown and school closures. However, the programme also aims to provide a longer-term contribution to closing the attainment gap. To be considered for this role you must have recent experience of working alongside children in the classroom or providing tuition (either paid or voluntary) and you must hold a degree. Candidates who hold a core subject degree or a social science degree will be prioritised.  Experience of working alongside children with special educational needs would also be advantageous.

Tuition must be arranged in 15-hour blocks, and either be face to face or online, 1:1, 1:2 or 1:3. This school have chosen to recruit for a staff member to work in school on a 1:3 basis. The working hours for this role are 9:00-12:30, five mornings per week (days negotiable) and the role will continue until May 2021 with the potential of the role extending.

To work as an ‘in class’ Primary tutor through the National Tuition Programme you must be willing to complete FREE online training through Teaching Personnel, such as:

  • CPD accredited tutor training (minimum of 20 hours)
  • Training on our toolkit
  • Level 2 Safeguarding training
  • Induction with Teaching Personnel

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
