Primary Teacher required in Frome, Somerset

We currently have a need for Teaching Assistants to work at a Special Need (SEN) School in Frome. This school caters for up to 60 young people between the ages of 4-19 with special educational needs including MLD (mild learning difficulties), SLD (severe learning difficulties) and PMLD (profound and multiple learning difficulties). Some of the students also have sensory impairments and speech and language difficulties.

Every pupil has an EHCP (Educational Health Care Plan) in place which means that no two pupils are taught in the same way. The school has excellent on site facilities including a sensory room, soft play room, a library along with allotments and a chicken pen that the older students help maintain.

Classes have no more than 8 pupils in with at least one teacher and two TA’s per class. As a SEN Teacher at this Ofsted rated ‘Good’ School, you would be expected to have:

  • Experience of developing and adapting curriculum and Schemes of Work to meet the needs of pupils
  • Proven ability to differentiate work to match student learning needs
  • Imagination, creativity and a highly developed sense of responsibility
  • A desire to motivate and enthuse all pupils.
  • Thorough knowledge of assessment and an understanding of how to deliver and assess differentiated programmes of study
  • A passion for the promotion of the highest levels of progress in learning and independence
  • The ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team, in partnership with all stakeholders including parents

The school are looking for:

  • Teachers that have experience supporting students with special needs within an educational setting
  • Individuals with QTS
  • Someone that is resilient and flexible

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
