Job description

Role: Part-time Sports Coach

Start date: September 2024

Pay: Competitive

Working hours: Full-time Monday-Friday

The Head Teacher of a small primary school in Crosby would like to recruit a part-time teaching assistant/sports coach for their school, starting in March 2024, for the Spring and Summer Term.

Staff and governors are looking to raise the priority of extra-curricular activities offered by the school, as well as the quality of PE teaching and learning. In doing so, they would like to employ a new member of staff at Level 2 to help deliver a broad sports curriculum and run a variety of out-of-school sessions. You will work closely with and under the direction of the PE Co-ordinator within school. There will also be the opportunity to support on school fixtures.

During the morning sessions, the successful candidate will be based within the Year 3 class to provide general classroom assistance and support to the Class Teacher. You will be required to prepare resources for lessons, teach and support small groups and individual pupils and undertake administrative duties, such as record keeping. You will also be expected to work effectively alongside the Class Teacher to ensure that pupils are able to achieve learning objectives, meet individual targets and understand what is expected with regards to attitude and behaviour.

The working hours for the role are 08:30 – 15:30, Mon-Fri. The hourly rate of pay for the role starts at £12.90.                           

Contract end date: August 2024 (Permanent contract to be offered after a successful period of probation)

Based upon the responsibilities of the position, you must be qualified at Level 2 or above to be considered. This qualification must be relevant to the role, for example associated with sports or supporting in a primary school. Prior experience of working with Primary-aged children is essential.

The school is graded ‘GOOD’ by Ofsted. The Head Teacher has high aspirations for their pupils which have had a positive impact. The school is inclusive and welcoming, catering for a high number of ethnic backgrounds.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
