PMLD Teaching Assistant – Agency Bank Staff

We are looking for passionate and reliable individuals to join our agency as PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties) Teaching Assistants. This is a rewarding opportunity to work on a flexible, bank basis in a specialist SEN school setting, supporting children and young people with complex learning and physical needs.

About the Role:

As a PMLD Teaching Assistant, you will provide essential support to pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties, working under the guidance of teachers and therapists. You will help create a safe, engaging, and nurturing learning environment that promotes independence, communication, and wellbeing.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting pupils with personal care, feeding, and mobility needs

  • Assisting with classroom activities, sensory play, and therapeutic sessions

  • Using specialist equipment such as hoists and communication aids

  • Following individual education and care plans

  • Supporting students’ social and emotional development

  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff

About You:

  • Caring, patient, and enthusiastic about working with children with additional needs

  • Experienced in a SEN, care, or healthcare environment (PMLD experience desirable)

  • Comfortable assisting with personal care and physical support

  • Able to follow guidance and work well as part of a team

  • Flexible, reliable, and proactive in supporting pupils’ individual needs

Requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

  • Experience in SEN, healthcare, or support work

  • Training in manual handling, hoisting, or personal care (advantageous but not essential)
