Job description

Phonics and Reading Intervention TA

A school in Fazakerley, Liverpool is looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant who can offer phonics and guided reading interventions as well as offering general class support. The role will be split into 2 sections; TA and Interventions - The amount of time delivering interventions will be decided once the school has analysed the pupils on their return to school.

The school is a supportive school in Fazakerley where the number of children accessing additional funding is below the national average. Pupils who attend the school tend to achieve above target grade.

The school appreciate the importance of phonics and reading in KS1 to the development of the pupil going through the school and are keen to assign extra time to these areas for the beginning of the 2024/25 academic year.

Phonics experience is essential. The school uses the ‘Read Write Inc’ Phonics scheme but are happy for those with other phonics scheme experience to apply.

The minimum requirement for the role is a Level 2 teaching assistant or equivalent qualification. The school are happy to appoint a teacher to this role due to the potential levels of intervention. Teaching Assistants, ECTs and FQTs are welcome to apply.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
