We are seeking to appoint an experienced, compassionate and highly motivated Pastoral Support Worker to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about improving outcomes for children by supporting their emotional wellbeing, behaviour and personal development across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, SENDCo, teachers and families, you will play a vital role in ensuring every child feels safe, valued and ready to learn. You will provide targeted pastoral support to pupils who require additional help to overcome social, emotional and behavioural barriers to learning.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have substantial experience working in a pastoral, behaviour or safeguarding role within a primary school.
  • Have experience supporting children across both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
  • Have a strong understanding of social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and the impact these can have on learning and behaviour.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience of trauma-informed practice, recognising the impact of adverse childhood experiences and responding with empathy, consistency and care.
  • Be skilled in using positive behaviour support and de-escalation strategies to help children regulate their emotions and make positive choices.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
  • Deliver targeted interventions, mentoring and nurture support for individual pupils and small groups.
  • Work effectively with parents, carers and external agencies to secure the best outcomes for children.
  • Promote excellent attendance, positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing throughout the school.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to pastoral support plans, safeguarding procedures and multi-agency meetings where appropriate.
  • Remain calm, resilient and professional when managing challenging situations.
  • Be fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
