Preston School seeking Passionate Primary Teacher

A large primary school situated in the heart of Preston City are seeking an engaging and hard working Class Teacher to cover a long-term vacancy within school, which has arisen due to a recent resignation. Consequently, there is potential for a temporary to permanent contract.

The role will be based in a Key Stage 2 class, working alongside a highly qualified and supportive Teaching Assistant. Behaviour of the pupils is good and is continuously improving, with the support of parents and a successful behaviour management policy. The school aim to deliver a creative, skill-based curriculum that is exciting and engaging for the children and provides a purpose for their learning. It has been specifically designed to help the children develop the skills required for effective learning and skills for life.

The school…

The school is a larger than average-sized primary school. A high proportion of the pupils who attend the school are from ethnic minority groups with a large percentage being disadvantaged. Since the recent expansion of the school, the school is now on its way to being an Ofsted graded GOOD school.

The successful candidate…

The senior leaders of the school are looking to appoint someone who has recent experience in Key Stage 2. An ability to plan engaging learning experiences in line with the school's creative curriculum, with clear learning objectives in mind, is essential to the role. Consistently high expectations of attainment and behaviour, along with an ability to develop positive relationships with the children based upon mutual respect, are also extremely important. Due to the nature of the post, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the wider community of the school, including meeting parents and delivering a weekly afterschool club.

Qualifications and Experience:

The Head Teacher, who will be the main point of contact for this work, has requested the following:

  • Newly or fully qualified teacher
  • Recent experience working alongside children in Key Stage 2
  • Good knowledge of the Key Stage 2 curriculum
  • Excellent behavioural management skills
  • Hard working and able to hit the ground running
