Job description

Educational Healthcare Assistants needed

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Educational Healthcare Assistants to join specialist schools in Leyland and the surrounding areas on a temporary agency basis. This rewarding role involves supporting children and young people with a diverse range of additional needs, including complex learning disabilities, physical impairments, communication difficulties, autism spectrum conditions, and associated medical or healthcare requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils across the school day

  • Assisting with personal care needs, including feeding, toileting, dressing, and mobility support where required

  • Supporting students with medical and healthcare requirements in line with individual care plans and professional guidance

  • Promoting independence, confidence, and emotional wellbeing through consistent and positive support

  • Assisting teaching staff in delivering adapted learning activities to meet individual needs

  • Following and contributing to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) to ensure targeted outcomes are supported

  • Implementing behaviour support strategies and helping pupils regulate emotions where needed

  • Recording observations, progress updates, and incidents accurately in line with safeguarding and school policies

  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, healthcare professionals, and families

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Previous experience within SEN education, healthcare, residential care, or support work settings

  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting children and young people

  • Confidence working with individuals with complex needs, including those who may display behaviours that challenge

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team

  • A clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and professional boundaries

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
