Part-time (0.6) Maths teacher required from September 2019 for a large mixed comprehensive secondary school situated in the Bury LEA.

This is an exciting opportunity for an inspirational and motivated Maths teacher to play a key role in one of the school's highest-performing departments.

Due to a restructure within the Maths department, this large mixed comprehensive secondary school wish to appoint an enthusiastic Maths practitioner to join their faculty with the potential to start earlier for the successful Maths teacher. This position is being offered on a part-time 0.6 basis and the days can be negotiated to suit availability.

  • Part-time Maths teacher required - September 2019 start.
  • Initially offered on a temporary basis for one term, with the opportunity to secure a permanent position in 2020.
  • Bury based secondary school - accessible via the M66 motorway.
  • Must hold QTS - both experienced and Newly Qualified Teachers are welcome to apply - as support will be provided to the successful Maths teacher.
  • Pay in line with MPS/UPS £23,720 - £39,406.

The Maths department is dynamic and successful, with staff delivering a shared vision of promoting excellence in the study of English Literature and Language. English results in recent examinations have been exceptionally higher than average, attesting to the department's high standards and innovative practice, and ranking high in the Bury LEA.

Main role and responsibilities include:

  • Full responsibilities for planning, delivering and assessing Maths across Key Stage Three and Key Stage Four.
  • Deliver innovative English lessons in line with the Maths National Curriculum to promote an inclusive learning practice best suited to each individual leaner.
  • Inspire excellent attainment, advising pupils and parents on progress and give clear guidance for improvement.

The school has seen dramatic positive changes under the guidance of the newly appointed Head Teacher who has brought a new energy, enthusiasm and drive to the secondary school. With just over 800 pupils on roll, aged 11-16, this mixed comprehensive secondary school can easily be accessed via the M66. Bury also has an abundance of public transport options available with links across Greater Manchester.
