Mentor
Job description
This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...
Pupil Referral Units in the Manchester area are looking for Behaviour specialists to assist students with their core subjects, monitor them and promote engagement during vocational work and generally advise them on their behaviour and emotional problems.
Students within a Pupil Referral Unit have been excluded from mainstream school as they are unable to cope with the routine and atmosphere, therefore attend the education provision and work with much smaller and less pressurised groups.
Candidates ideally will have a background in Psychology, Youth Work or Support Work, and are trained in Team-Teach. It is essential to be prepared with the correct training for this role to ensure the safety and security of staff and students.
The ideal personality for this role will be resilient and able to maintain authority, whilst still being open, relatable and approachable. Students within a PRU will try to test boundaries but need to feel secure and able to rely on the staff they work with to help them overcome their issues.
The role will be challenging but is good experience for those looking to go into a counselling, support work or mental health career.
If you think you're the right person for this role, please apply with your CV.
