LSA/Behaviour Mentor in Mainstream Primary School - Islington

An aspiring Educational Psychologist is wanted to become a Behaviour Mentor / Learning Support Assistant at this mainstream school in Islington. You will be using therapeutic intervention and working closely with Local Authority support partners for you to develop your own skills and training.

To be considered for this role you must be an inventive teaching assistant who has previous experience working with children who have special educational needs. The perfect candidate will be able to motivate and support colleagues and show an intense desire when supporting SEN pupils with challenging behavioural issues. The right applicant will be willing to develop a comprehensive understanding of the syllabus, and have a genuinely caring and nurturing character. The school needs a TA who has the tenacity to forge strong relationships and coherent verbal and written communication skills.

Your responsibilities will include progressing your abilities by working closely with a mentor who will tutor you through the rest of the academic year preparing you for a successful career. You will have the responsibility of working closely with pupils who have previously been suspended, and need integrating back into the classroom amongst their peers. As a Behaviour Mentor / Learning Support Assistant you will be utilising not just the facilities available but also the support and guidance on hand in the form of an experienced teacher who will act as your personal mentor when you join the school. As you would expect with any successful school you will be enrolled into the schools excellent CPD programme, where you can work on developing your overall teaching skills and style. Day-to-day, you will be assisting the teacher with smaller 'booster' groups and intervention 1:1s where specific points can be targeted and worked upon.

Found in Islington, this primary school also welcomes non-graduates for the position. It is easily accessible from a wide range of regular and reliable public transport links. The intake of pupils at this school with SEN requirements is higher than the national average, and their individual needs are met through dedicated support and personalised plans.
